Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy
Cancer immunology is a passage of immunology that studies interactions between the immune system and cancer cells (also called tumors or malignancies). It is a crushed of research that aims to discover cancer immunotherapies to treat and retard progression of the disease. Cancer immunotherapy also known as Immune-oncology is the use of the immune system to treat cancer. Immunotherapies can be considered as active, passive or hybrid (active and passive). The immune response, including the recognition of cancer-specific antigens, forms the basis of targeted therapy (such as vaccines and antibody therapies) and tumor marker-based diagnostic tests.
